About Aileen
I’m a Reiki Master Teacher and practitioner based in Eagle, Colorado.
In 2008, I learned Usui Reiki I & II and Animal Reiki to support my senior dog, Cody. What started as a way to help him has grown into a practice I now share with people and animals.
I’m currently deepening my practice through Duke Health & Well-Being’s 5-month Reiki Master program, which I will complete in June 2026. This training highlights an evidence-based history of Reiki, as well as trauma-informed practice, ethics, and issues in clinical settings.
I’ve spent the past 25 years in nonprofit communications focused on health care, youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. I currently oversee marketing communications for a local hospital foundation. A favorite part of my work has always been the opportunity to get to know people and their stories.
When I’m not in a Reiki session, you’ll find me snowboarding, sailing, hiking with my husky Willow, or enjoying life in the mountains.

About the Name VelaSky
Vela is a constellation in the southern sky. Its name comes from the Latin word for “sails,” a nod to its origins as part of Argo Navis, the ancient Greek celestial ship. In the 1750s, astronomer Nicolas-Louis de Lacaille divided Argo Navis into smaller constellations. The sails became Vela.
You’ll find Vela represented in the VelaSky Healing logo.
For thousands of years, the night sky guided travelers through uncharted territory, offering a sense of place when the path ahead was unclear.
Before moving to Colorado, I raced on the Great Lakes, competing in long-distance and overnight races as part of a crew on a 39-foot sailboat. Moving through the water beneath a clear night sky, there’s a peace that feels both expansive and grounding. That feeling is what I hope to bring into every session: a place to pause, find your bearings, and remember you don’t have to navigate everything alone.
